Controller - Whitefish, MT

Job Title:  Controller
Department:  Finance
Report To:  Chief Financial Officer
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Full Time
Location:  Whitefish, MT

The Controller will report to the CFO and will be responsible for all accounting processes and functions.  This includes timely and accurate recording and reporting of transactions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, reconciliation of general ledger account balances, and consolidation of the financial statements for seven entities recording transactions in five different currencies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coach, mentor and develop accounting staff, including overseeing and directing the employees in accordance with NXGEN’s policies and procedures
  • Be a hands-on member of the accounting team
  • Process and record semi-monthly payroll
  • Maintain fixed asset records
  • Month-end close, including account reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including translation of foreign currencies
  • Prepare budget to actual reporting
  • Assist the CFO with the preparation of annual budgets
  • Complete various compliance and filing requirements
  • Oversee the processing of annual 1099’s
  • Oversee the completion of sales tax returns
  • Prepare and file VAT and GST returns
  • Analyze and document internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Provide financial analyses as needed
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline routine activities

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understand accounting for foreign currencies
  • Understand consolidation process
  • Maintain total and complete confidentiality
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Prior experience using accounting information systems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to effectively and professionally interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferably Accounting
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting
  • Prior supervisory experience

Position Summary:

In this full-time position, you will be responsible for the success and development of sales agents and their merchant accounts, with the ongoing support of customers and colleagues. Methods of service are in-person, and by telephone, email, and multiple technical/software tools, in a fast-paced environment.

This position is in equal parts agent support, training and development, quality assurance,  sales, and project management. It requires an innovative and ambitious individual who can balance customer needs, with business forward intelligence.

This is a challenging position with a local, growing, global sales company. We are looking for professionals who are at the beginning of their career or ready to kick their career into high gear. Our goal is to find someone who is willing to put in time with the company and grow as a professional. Experience in sales, credit card or banking industry preferred, but will work with the right individual for mutual success.

 Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Timely and successful agent boarding
  • Agent training of systems, applications, products, and pricing
  • Development of training program materials, and curriculum, with support
  • Learned knowledge of products, pricing, and policies
  • QA of customer accounts, technical support, and relationship management
  • Follow up with customers and co-workers
  • Paper and electronic filing of sensitive documents
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Development of procedural documents
  • Follow all policies
  • Cross-train and be willing to jump in where needed
  • Meet deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned

 Required:

  • High school degree (AA or 4 Year preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in customer service or related field
  • Excellent communication skills including written, in-person, and telephone etiquette
  • Ability to learn and navigate multiple CRM and SAAS tools
  • Self-review, with ability to demonstrate accountability
  • Understand, identify, and collaborate in solution driven quality assurance
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to identify, and shift priorities as needed
